Estate Sale Find – Art Deco Inspired Bookends

I went to Penzeys today because I needed to stock up on a few spices. There was also an estate sale not too far away so of course we stopped. The sale was rather overpriced, especially when it came to Pyrex. I did make one great find though – these beautiful art deco inspired bookends. I believe they are made out of what’s called “Mexican Onyx”. I have no idea how old they are but they fit in beautifully with my decor. The bookends are quite heavy and very sturdy. I paid $8.

Hi Karen!!! I had to giggle over your comment on the HUGE bag of apples. That’s the same reaction my mom had when she saw the pic. LOL In regards to the Buddha’s Delight, we’re big fans of baby corn too. Yum! We liked the Buddha’s Delight so much I made it for dinner again last night.

I like going to Penzeys because you can buy your spices in bulk bags (ranging from 4 oz. to 16 oz.) and then just refill the jars. I picked up some Coriander (ground), Crushed Red Pepper, Whole Nutmegs, Paprika (half-sharp), Paprika (sweet), Onion (granulated), Allspice (ground), Cumin (ground), and more Mulling Spices for cider. I also picked up some of their Hint of Mint Hot Chocolate Mix for my grandma. She loves it! Oh, and I bought a 16 oz. bottle of their Vanilla Extract as I’m getting low on my current bottle….Can you tell I LOVE talking about spices? 😀
