Free Box of Food from Amazon.com

Wow, 2 posts in one day. First, I want to warn people that not everything pictured is vegan….that stuff will go to my parents and grandma. UPS just rang the doorbell and there was a box from Amazon.com with a sticker on it that said “Promotional Gift”. I opened it up and there was this box inside:

The letter said this was a sampling of the types of products stocked in Amazon Grocery. Further into the letter, it says “We have a broad selection of natural and organic products, from Pirate’s Booty to Yogi Tea, including hundreds of products for gluten-free and vegan diets.” I thought it was pretty cool the letter specifically mentioned vegan diets, even though most of the food sent wasn’t vegan.

Here’s a picture of what was in the box:

I’m definitely going to eat the Wild Oats Cranberry Moon Mix and I know I’ll be able to use the AA batteries and mini-flashlight. I think the kashi cereal has honey in it unfortunately. Phooey! I did get 2 samples of coffee: Millstone – Colombian Supremo and an 11 oz. can of Yuban Dark Roast. The Yuban Coffee says it “contains a minimum 30% Rainforest Alliance Certified Coffee.” At least that’s a small step in the right for some of the mass coffee producers.

I know my parents will eat the stuff I can’t and I’ll definitely give my grandma the microwaveable brownies. Not only are they not vegan but I don’t own a microwave. My parents don’t have one either.

Anyone who semi-regularly reads this blog knows I love free stuff so I was excited to get this unexpected surprise 😀 And hey, this Cranberry Moon Mix is pretty good. Tastes even better because it was free. Yeah 🙂

Did anyone else get this from Amazon.com?

Woah. Are you, like, an Amazon superstar, or what? What list are you on, sister? Rock 🙂

Not sure why I was chosen. A few years ago, they also sent me a really nice stainless steel travel mug too that says amazon.com. Hurray for free stuff 🙂

I got the box of free food too. It was like Easter since it had CANDY in it. I’ve been on Atkins for three years–but when that free stuff arrived at my door, how could I say no? I did give the mac & cheese, crackers, and cereal away, but I ate the candy and was up half the night from the sugar rush!

    Thanks Amazon!

I got this too. It was a great surprise! I have an amazon credit card – maybe that is why I am on the list. I haven’t purchased much through amazon lately.

I got the free box too and so did my roommate. We both got a slightly different selection of products in our boxes from yours: http://www.vuhn.com/2006/08/21/free-box-of-groceries-from-amazoncom/

I’ve been trying to figure out how amazon decided who the lucky winners would be. My roommate and I are both Amazon Prime customers and have spent a few hundred dollars each at amazon.com. Can’t be the credit card because we don’t have one…

Could this be an all Prime customers promo? Anyone out there with Prime that hasn’t received this free gift?

  • vegandiva August 23, 2006, 7:09 am

I don’t have Amazon prime or an Amazon credit card.

A quick update: My parents loved all the free food I gave them. They’ve already eaten the Carr’s crackers. They saw the blog pictures but didn’t realize just how much stuff was there until I gave it to them.
