Heap O' Habanero Peppers

This was the final harvest of habanero peppers from our garden last month:

I used the peppers in all sorts of dishes but one of my favorite things to make is habanero hot sauce. It is embarrassingly easy to make. My favorite recipe to use is from Rick Bayless. Rob even brought some in for his co-workers to try and they loved it. The hot sauce recipe makes a lot more than what is pictured.

It’s good to hear from you, I’ve missed your postings. You must be incredibly busy!

Beautiful peppers. How do you eat the hot sauce?

What beautiful peppers! The hot sauce recipe looks great – and hot!

Thanks for the great comments everyone. I’ve missed my blogging buddies 🙂

Aurora’s Mom, I’ve mostly been eating the hot sauce on Mexican food but Rob will put it on his tofu scramble or just dip corn chips into it. It was fun to make my own hot sauce versus just making salsa. I couldn’t believe the bumper crop of habanero peppers we had. How did things turn out with your garden this year?

Oh, that looks great. Now I just need to find me a big bunch of habaneros.. hmm. I really want a garden! Or just a balcony where I can grow something atleast.

    Hi Emmy:

Well, we are still eating cherry tomatoes, green and red peppers and we had lots of zucchini (too much to eat!)

My bean and pea plants were mostly eaten by our backyard bunny, so we could only salvage a handful of the beans…

Some of our plants hardly grew because it was so dry and we had a hard time keeping up with the watering. I broke my wrist back in May, so I didn’t do as much gardening as I had hoped.

There’s always next year! Glad to see you’re back to blogging.
