Pizza Bagels and Garage Sale Find

Pizza bagels are quick and easy to make. They are great for those days where you just don’t have a lot of time. In the Detroit area, the best bagels are at New York Bagel located on 12 Mile at the corner of Evergreen (they are in the strip mall) in Southfield.

I just split the bagels in half, top with Muir Glen Organic Pizza Sauce, and put vegan soy cheeze on top. This time, I had Tofutti cheeze on hand. I sprinkle a little Italian Herb Mix over the top. Then I put them in my toaster oven, usually on the 4-6 slice option and on setting 2. After that, I add tomato slices and a little more soy cheeze. Then back into the toaster oven for another minute or two.

My toaster oven is a Cuisinart Convection Toaster Oven. I’ve owned it for about seven years and love it. You can toast, bake, and broil. It is on the expensive side. I bought mine at Bed, Bath, and Beyond with a 20% off coupon. I use my toaster oven often so it gets prime kitchen counter space. I don’t have a microwave so there’s plenty of room for it. I just don’t like microwaves and prefer to heat and reheat food on the stove or in the oven or toaster oven. My parents never owned a microwave either.

I found a Sunset Flooring book at a garage sale for 50¢. It has a lot of information that is still relevant today such as repairing floors – everything from rips to squeaks and a section on refinishing floors. I figure it will come in handy with the next house we buy.

Good for you on the no microwave thing. I am very

dependent on mine although i very much prefer my toaster oven. The pizza bagels look splendid! I was disappointed to read, as i did yesterday, that bagels are not exactly the best kind of carb. I kind of already knew that but i didn’t realize they were “right up there” with white rice… which i also love, btw. HA!

Anyway, give me a good bagel any day! I grew up on them every Sunday when i was a kid and now i have them at least twice a week. Toasted, thankyouverymuch!! Love the pizza bagel photo. You got my mouth a’waterin’.

Nice Sunset flooring book. Will hold good thoughts for you as you prepare to move…

I loooove pizza bagels. I do have a microwave, but I only really use it to heat up leftovers or melt chocolate sometimes. Something are much better heated in the toaster oven, though. I have not ever in my life reheated a burrito in the microwave. Uck.
