Thrift Store Finds and a Gift From Grandma

I am having some trouble uploading my pictures this morning so I will have to do a food post tomorrow. In the meantime, I can finally get around to posting some thrift store finds I already had uploaded.

I actually found some Pyrex in excellent condition at the thrift store. I bought a loaf pan and a casserole with the glass lid. I have seen this pattern referred to as both Crazy Daisy and Spring Blossom Green. I spent $7.40 for both items.

I love Pyrex loaf pans and they are excellent for baking sweet/dessert type breads like banana bread. This loaf pan is the only Pyrex loaf pan I have with a design on it. My other Pyrex loaf pans are just plain white.

I have a hard time finding pieces with lids in good condition. Well, a hard time finding them at prices I’m willing to pay! LOL This lid didn’t even have any chips in it!

My grandma gave me these vintage deer salt and pepper shakers. Thanks grandma! My parents show her the blog so I know she will get a kick out of seeing them here. I think these salt and pepper shakers are adorable.

Love those dishes! I’m in the market for another loaf pan too… Our local paper comes out today and lists all the garage sales in the area…now I actually look forward to this! (yes, simple things do make me happy too hehe…)

    Have a great weekend :0)

Oh MY GOSH! My dad has the whole set of those dishes (casseroles and mixing bowls) at home. They were my mom’s and after they split she thought they were so tacky that he could keep them. I love them!

What cute dishes you always have. I saw an ad in the paper today for an estate sale and they listed FireKing dishes and I totally thought about you!

Aurora’s Mom, I always look forward to the garage sales ads too. I like that most newspapers have their classifieds section online. If I’m heading over towards a different area, I can see what sales are over there. And I hope you can find a Pyrex loaf pan 🙂

Nikki, that’s too funny your mom didn’t want them.

Udandi, I do read ljc’s blog. I actually found out about it from your blog 🙂 I somehow missed that post. Thanks for the link. I’ve never been to that Pyrex site before. It’s great because now I can find out the official names for some of my patterns. It seems the official name for this pattern is Spring Blossom Green and Crazy Daisy is just a collector nickname. Who knew?

Bazu, It’s too bad you don’t live closer…otherwise we could go thrifting together!!! 😀

VV, Thanks for thinking of me when you see Fire King mentioned 🙂

Melody, thanks for the pumpkin carving compliment. I just use those tools that come with the pumpkin carving kits you can buy for $4. It’s cheap entertainment and I can eat the seeds too. It’s win-win. LOL

Rachel, oh cool, I didn’t realize you were a vintage pyrex fan too. Awesome 🙂

MaidinAlaska, awww, thanks for your very nice comment 🙂 I love going to the sales. It’s a combination of the thrill of the hunt and stretching my dollars as far as they will go.

Candi, ha ha, that’s great your mom had them too. My mom didn’t have this pattern but she did have a few pieces of the plain avocado green Pyrex. Some of which I have now 🙂

My mom had those same dishes when I was growing up. She probably still has them somewhere in storage.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I’ve been enjoying your posts — love the finds. Also love the Michigan references — used to visit my friend when she lived in Detroit.

Those dishes took me back about 30 years. WOW!
